When “ARK: Survival Evolved” first came out on Early Access, the game was picked up by thousands of players. Now, the full digital and retail release date is finally upon the world and the adventure is available in all its glory.

An ambitious story

The idea behind “ARK: Survival Evolved” was not a humble one and game developer Studio Wildcard admitted as much on their official website. It was an ambitious project that had a lot on its plate. The scope of the game as well as its planned features and plotline were vast and encompassing, but the community behind it has been supportive and helpful.

It began as a relatively basic open-world survival title and it had its fair share of features, which included one ARK, one boss, some 30 or so creatures, and an immeasurable number of bugs. At that point, it was hard to tell where “Survival Evolved” would eventually lead, especially since the game was just on Early Access.

But now, there is so much more that the title can offer its players. There is more direction, more of a story, and more of an idea of where gamers can go.

A promising future

It has, as the studio noted, some 26 months of massive developments based on the supportive feedback given by the community. There are now as many as four ARKs to explore, including the Norse and the Scottish Highland-Inspired Ragnarok. Moreover, there are five bosses to defeat and over a hundred creatures to come in contact with.

But the “ARK: Survival Evolved” digital and retail release has so much more than just the expansion of the experience too. There are a hundred different mods, the total user interface has been overhauled, and the Primitive+ alternative game mode and Procedural ARKs have been added. Players can also expect general performance enhancements, less game bugs, and better life quality that includes a toilet.

What to expect from 1.0

With the initial full release of “ARK: Survival Evolved,” there is plenty to dig into and get users to get their hands figuratively dirty with. It might seem odd for most players that a survival game has an actual ending in discovering the secrets of the ARKs, but the developers have gone on the record to say that it simply points to what could come next.

What is there to look forward to

As much as the game has been expanded in terms of storyline, space, and interaction opportunities, Studio Wildcard has every plan to keep updating “ARK: Survival Evolved.” The digital and retail release is evidently not the end of the saga, but only the stepping stone for so much more. Greater adventures and more holistic experiences are just around the corner.

One particularly exciting feature coming up is the addition of two new members to the story line. This includes Otter on PC as well as Phoenix and Tek Gear coming in just a few days. There are also more items in development and additional gameplay elements that are being explored.

There is so much coming in the way of “ARK: Survival Evolved.” The digital and retail release is just a glimpse of what is to come.
